Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 11. It’s a special day that we observe each year to commemorate our service members both past and present. Home to Hunter Army Airfield and with Fort Stewart nearby, Savannah has a sizable military population. For this reason, Veterans Day is greatly important to the local community. There are a few Veterans Day celebrations happening throughout town. So, if you want to send a salute to our service members, plan to attend these events.

Service Brewing
Service Brewing is also hosting a Veterans Day party on Nov. 11. Starting at 12 p.m., the festivities will be happening all day long. Service Brewing will release their new Lincoln’s Gift Oyster Stout at the party. Guests can also look forward to live music from bluegrass band Swamptooth and Americana duo Lyn Avenue. Strange Bird food truck will be on the premises serving up delicious food as well. A portion of every beer sold during the party will benefit Service Brewing’s new charity, Warrior Music Foundation, which harnesses the healing power of music to serve active military, veterans and their families.
Veterans Day Parade
The Veterans Day Parade will take place on Nov. 11 at 10:15 a.m., starting at Abercorn and Gwinnett streets. Many veterans from various American Legion posts, active service members and local businesses and organizations will be participating. Show your support for our veterans by coming out and cheering them on during the parade.
Though Veterans Day is one holiday we set aside to honor our heroes, you can demonstrate your gratitude to our service members and veterans anytime. It’s as easy as saying a heartfelt thank you to our military members whenever you see them out and about. Having our support means a lot to our service members and veterans, so go the extra mile to make them feel special this Veterans Day.
