Can’t Say NoRelish Reimagined Retro Recipes on the Rooftop at Peregrin
Sometimes we long for a simpler time, hearkening back to the days of yore when life was good — you know, when you didn’t have to worry about pandemics, inflation or global warming. How we desperately wish to once again experience those days that seem so long ago. Well fortunately Peregrin is inviting you to turn back time with their Throwback Thursdays.
Every Thursday between now and Sept. 15, Peregrin is taking you all the way back to the 90’s and Y2K with totally tubular food and drink specials that definitely deliver on both flavor and nostalgia.
Enjoy a refreshing cocktail overlooking downtown Savannah and let the flavors transport you to the days where low-rise jeans and frosted tips reigned supreme. Drink specials include Frozen Cherry Coke, Sunny D, Blue Bug Juice, Capri Sun and Ecto Cooler. These inventive cocktails will remind you of the past while delivering forward-thinking flavor.
In addition to the delicious dated drinks, you can enjoy elevated renditions of popular snack foods from the past. Options include Hot Pockets, The Eggo, The Lunchable, The Bagel Bite, Dunkaroos and Toaster Strudel. These retro plates are reimagined with fresh ingredients, putting a modern twist on these childhood classics.
Dope food and drinks aren’t ‘all that’ Peregrin’s Throwback Thursdays have to offer. There’s also a sweet social media contest happening. The sizable Toaster Strudel comes with its own piping bag for the Artsy Icing contest. Entering the contest is easy. Get creative and draw on your Strudel, then share an in-feed photo of your art on Instagram. And be sure to tag and follow the bar @Peregrin. You have until Sept. 15 to enter.
The Peregrin team will limit submissions to three finalists, and then you can vote for your fave on IG between Sept. 22 – 29. The winner will be announced on Oct. 30. The prize is a throwback package including a Tomagotchi, a Bop It, a bucket hat with the Peregrin logo, a RetroViewfinder with a custom Peregrin Slide, Capri Sun, Dunkaroos, Bubble Gum Tape and a $50 Peregrin gift card. With a winning package like this, you’ll definitely be the shiznit to all of your peeps.  So, don’t wait, go back in time with Peregrin in the near future!

In the KnowGet Ready to Rage at Savannah Smithereens
Are you stressed out? Frustrated? Just need to let off some steam? The perfect opportunity is just days away. On Aug. 19 at noon, Savannah Smithereens will open its doors, inviting the public to let it all out in their rage rooms.
What’s a rage room, you ask? According to owner Tiffany Noell, it’s a place “where people go to break stuff for fun to release their frustrations.” That’s right! Rage rooms, also known as smash rooms, are places where you can have a full on conniption fit, destroying everything in sight safely, of course. Guests have to wear protective gear including a full-body suit and a face guard. But yeah, it’s pretty straightforward. You get to go medieval in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.
Breakables include dishware, liquor bottles, wine and beer bottles, old electronics and other materials. These items are sourced from local businesses like the Salvation Army, Bootleggers in Pooler and Spanky’s, keeping them out of landfills in support of Savannah Smithereens’ eco-friendly agenda. They also take personal donations as well. Once the items are destroyed, Savannah Smithereens partners with local artists to create art pieces and jewelry from the fragments, ensuring they don’t end up in landfills.
Savannah Smithereens welcomes anyone in need of some serious stress relief to come out and give their rage rooms a try. Whether you’re venting frustrations, celebrating a momentous occasion, team-building with coworkers or having fun with friends, Savannah Smithereens is an exciting, healthy outlet for recreational rage. Be sure to give it a try, and let them know The Low sent ya.
The GoHit These Beautiful Beaches Before Summer Ends
The kiddos are going back to school, but we still have a few weeks of summer left. It will be a few months before we can expect cooler temperatures, so, why not use the rest of the summer to soak up as much sun as you can? There’s still plenty of time for fun beach days, and there are several beaches just a short drive away awaiting your presence. Pack up your beach bag, slap on the sunscreen, don your chicest sunnies and head to these beautiful beaches before summer ends.
Tybee Island
If you want to stay local, Tybee Island is the obvious choice. If you want a quieter, less crowded area, head to Back River Beach. But if you want to be in the heart of the action, South Beach is the beach for you. For an encounter with nature, kayak to Little Tybee and set up camp. Whatever kind of beach day you want to have, you can do it on Tybee.
Hilton Head
A little less local than Tybee, but still relatively close is Hilton Head’s Coligny Beach. There are some private beaches on Hilton Head, but Coligny Beach is open to the public. You can park nearby for free, peruse cute and quirky little shops along the way and enjoy the clean, pristine beach all day.
Jekyll Island
Jekyll Island is Georgia’s southernmost barrier island about an 1.5 hour drive away. The isle boasts tranquil, unspoiled beaches that are perfect for a chill day on shore with a good book. Driftwood Beach is scenic with beautiful trees that make for a nice photo-op. If you want to get active, you can enjoy a good stroll on Sharktooth Beach. It’s also a great site for scavenging.
Fernandina Beach
Fernandina Beach is about two hours away situated on the picturesque Amelia Island in Florida. It’s an eclectic area with a relatively quiet beach, making it a good choice for a secluded day getaway. The beach is also a top bird watching destination, so keep your eyes out to spot some special feathered friends.
Jacksonville
Beach
Jacksonville is just a little over two hours away from Savannah with 22 miles of beaches ready to relish. The main public beaches include Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Mayport Beach and Atlantic Beach. All of these beaches are pet-friendly, making it the perfect place to enjoy sand, sea and sunshine with your four-legged friend.
